This page will 301 redirect up to 50 times for Googlebot or its testing tools. Let's see how far Googlebot goes.
Chrome did make it to 50 redirects, but it initially threw up a too many redirects message at around 19. Run the redirect test in your browser.
My original test from long ago logged Googlebot at 20 redirects, which is about how far Chrome was going at the time. Google was saying only 5 redirects.
Well, this test using the Rich Result Test tool did stop at 5 redirects. Seems they have fixed it.
The live test also made it to 5. Interestingly, it simultaniously crawled it twice with different user agents.
Now to wait until the real Googlebot has a go. But I think its safe to say 5 redirects is the limit.
